Nebraska Unclaimed Property Outreach – Begins July 4th

Treasurer Stenberg Announces 2014 Unclaimed Property Outreach Schedule.

On July 4th, Nebraska treasurer Stenberg’s office begins an outreach program at the Seward July 4th celebration. Treasurer Stenberg said. “I encourage Fourth of July visitors to stop by our booth and check to see if the Treasurer’s Office is holding money for them, their family members, or their businesses.” Claiming missing money should be easy and painless at this state sponsored event.

According to the state treasury website, Nebraska holds more than $135 million in unclaimed funds. More than $200,00 is currently held by the state for Seward County residents. The largest of those claims is $10,386 for a Utica man. Statewide, the largest claim in the database is for $437,525 for stock redemption for a business, address unknown!
